I work with companies and organizations all the time. I commend companies who take charge in developing its employees. The Laus Group of Companies, based in San Fernando, Pampanga is one such company. You see this in the company mission and vision statement which says:

We shall seek to be looked upon by our business partners with trust and respect and
We shall remain conscious of our social responsibility and role in community development and nation building
The Laus Group of Companies has been the trusted and admired automotive conglomerate in Metro Manila, North and Central Luzon. Being in the business for 40 years, LGC has grown to 55 dealerships in Metro Manila, North and Central Luzon. They carry well-known brands such as Mitsubishi, Ford, Hyundai, Chevrolet, BMW, Volkswagen, Jeep, Peugeot, Kia, Mazda, Nissan, Suzuki and Haima.
I had an inquiry from LGC’s COO, Miss Lissette Laus-Velasco. She wanted me to speak at a special meeting with managers, department heads, and sales team. The half-day talk on February 11, 2019 focused on Corporate Image and Personality Development.
The goal was to create an awareness and overview of the basics of Executive Presence. Since this is a 4-hour session, it is not as comprehensive as my full day talks on Executive Presence.
I talked about Positive Corporate Image, its components, and benefits. Developing a credible image is relevant in their line of work. They are not only selling cars, but should provide excellent customer service as well.
The Sales Team needs to look likeable and credible. They are front liners. And should have the ability to persuade buyers first in the way they present themselves. So, I gave them tips on choosing wardrobe, good grooming, and professional levels of dress.
The participants also learned how to create a memorable first impression. And that they only have seven seconds to do so. First impression covers their body language and non-verbal communication.
What are these appearance blunders?
For women
- Unkempt hair
- Too much makeup
- Blouses are too revealing or very short and tight skirts
- Broken or bitten nails
- Flashy jewelry
For men
- Unkempt look
- Dandruff on shoulders
- Obvious hair pieces
- Visible piercings or tattoos
- Discolored or broken tooth
Being aware of the impact of image and body language will help LGC team succeed. Changing their perspective about self and their work will impact their business relationships. They will also perform well and achieve their desired personal and professional growth.
This talk equipped the attendees on strengthening their personal brand. This helps align them with the company’s mission, vision, core values.
Elisha Valeza shared her thoughts about the workshop and said, “I learned a lot from the seminar. It’s very transformative. I have become aware not only of my appearance or behavior, but how I portray my image and character in the way I treat others.”
